FPS games are a dime a dozen these days, but Insurgency Sandstorm provides players the challenge and realism they’ve been craving for so long. With popular game releases such as Fortnite, Overwatch, and other such games that have been announced like Halo Infinite and Anthem, it seems that the new realistic military FPS games are a bit lacking in the market right now, but the dynamic Insurgency Sandstorm Gameplay has the potential to fill that void for players looking for the old classic-style realistic combat.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is a team-based, tactical FPS based on lethal close quarter combat and objective-orientated multiplayer gameplay. Being the sequel to the indie breakout FPS Insurgency, the game-play has been improved, expanded, and has become bigger in every conceivable way. The game isn’t like the traditional action film, with lots of explosions and clear, centered shots of all the action, but frantic and disjointed. Instead, it is visceral but surprisingly understated at the same time.
The mechanics of respawning feels unique. In versus mode, rather than using respawn tickets like in Battlefield, Insurgency resurrects players in waves. There are no revives or last stands of health stations either, so removing a player from the battle can ultimately change the overall dynamic of the fight.
The combat is experienced in three online multiplayer game modes within the beta: Push, Firefight, and Skirmish. In Push, players must capture Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie objectives before finally destroying Delta using enforcements. Firefight is a mode where points must also be captured, but you can only respawn if your team has already successfully obtained enemy territory. And finally, in the Skirmish game mode, players must destroy the enemy team’s cache or eliminate all opponents while capturing certain points to win.
The game offers extensive classes including Marksmen, Advisers, Demolitionists, Breachers, Riflemen, Observers, and Captains. So no matter the preferences of a player, they should be able to find classes and weapons to fit their play style easily. Each class will have an impressive range of specialties and weapons relative to his or her position (Riflemen will carry assault rifles, Marksmen have long ranged weapons, Demolitionists carry explosives, and so on).
Insurgency Sandstorm has an arsenal of options for creating unique players. The variety of things you can customize about your character when you create it is really quite impressive. Furthermore, each one of a character’s parts has its own customization option. You can change the headgear, the eyewear, hands, torso, feet, and many more. You can even get to choose things like hair, facial hair, hair color, and even the voice of your character.
If you’re a fan of tactical shooters such as the likes of CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, or the previous Insurgency, then this game is definitely for you. Insurgency Sandstorm Gameplay presents a fun challenge, strategic gameplay, and realistic fighting. The thrill that you get upon playing the game isn’t necessarily for the skills, but the battle itself.
The game pays a lot of attention to detail with the customization aspect. There are dozens of individual options, including gender, and the ability to change the appearance of nearly everything down from the operator’s gloves to the facial hair.
